The Triplex: A Thoughtful Transformation in the Heart of Geneva

Geneva

2024

Inspired by our client's dream of a home resembling a 'jewellery box,' we infused the space with innovative textures, vibrant hues, and intricate details. Merging three apartments into a single, carefully designed triplex in the heart of Geneva was a unique challenge—but creating a refined and functional home for a design-conscious family required careful planning.

This is a project where attention to detail and craftsmanship shaped a distinctive and inviting living space.

A Vision Beyond Restoration

The initial plan was a smaller renovation project with some areas being left as they were. But then the client saw the concept and fell in love. The decision was then made to renovate the entire space. The result is a home that balances color, texture, and form in a way that feels both personal and considered.

Maximising Light and Space

Enhancing natural light and improving the flow of space was a priority. On the ground floor, where light enters only from the garden side, walls were removed and glass doors were introduced to allow more light to filter through. A custom paint blend infused with marble dust subtly enhances the light, creating a soft, natural glow.

Many of the furniture pieces were designed in-house by I Love Colours Studio and made by skilled artisans in France and England, ensuring a cohesive and understated aesthetic.

A Library with Character

At the heart of the home, the library combines comfort and thoughtful design. A mohair sofa, finished with silk fringe, references the client’s grandmother’s beloved seating.

Dining Space with Presence

Framing the kitchen entrance, two custom-designed sideboards reinterpret traditional chinoiserie lacquer cabinets in a contemporary way. The kitchen features reflective lacquered cabinetry to subtly enhance the available light.

A Comfortable Living Space

The living area was designed with flexibility in mind. A combination of Pierre Augustin Rose sofas, a vintage Corkscrew armchair by Vladimir Kagan, and sculptural side tables by McCollin Bryan create an interesting mix of textures and shapes. A Tom Faulkner coffee table, finished in a custom patina, serves as a focal point, alongside an arched console by Pietro Franceschini, sourced from The Invisible Collection. Beneath it all, an organic silk and wool rug, custom-woven over six months in Nepal by Atelier Février, ties the space together.

Master Bedroom with Subtle Detailing

The master bedroom focuses on texture and craftsmanship. A silk headboard, with beaded embroidery, brings a quiet sense of luxury. Sliding doors are reworked with hand-painted silk panels featuring Coromandel design.

Beside the bed, custom tables designed by I Love Colours Studio are finished with French straw marquetry by Studio Gallagher, blending traditional techniques with contemporary design.

Craftsmanship Throughout

Each piece you can see was carefully considered and made by respected artisans.

This is not just a place to live—it is a home shaped by thoughtful design, attention to detail, and collaboration with expert craftsmen.
