A Longstanding Hotel Collaboration: Thoughtful Design and Timeless Appeal
2009
Designed as a four-star establishment, the hotel features 95 guest rooms alongside a restaurant, bar, brasserie, cafeteria, reception, lobby, fitness area, and dedicated business and event spaces. Collaborating closely with the client, contractors, and tradespeople, we deeply explored the crucial elements of hospitality design—from spatial planning and operational efficiency to material durability and guest experience.
A Design That Endures
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project has been its longevity. Since its completion in 2009, the hotel has required minimal structural updates. While select areas—such as the restaurant, lobby, and meeting rooms—have been refreshed over the years, much of the original design remains intact. The bedrooms, cafeteria, reception, and brasserie continue to reflect the thoughtful planning that went into the initial concept, proving that well-executed design can stand the test of time.
Each year, subtle refinements are made to ensure the space evolves while maintaining its character. The hotel remains a thriving business, demonstrating how a considered design approach can create not only a welcoming atmosphere but also a commercially sustainable environment.
Looking Ahead
As the collaboration continues, plans are already in place for future updates, including a refurbishment of the bar, reception, and cafeteria in 2025. This ongoing relationship underscores the importance of adaptability in hospitality design—where timeless aesthetics must meet the ever-changing demands of the industry.
This project serves as a reminder that good design is not just about aesthetics but also about functionality, longevity, and the relationships built along the way. It remains a significant part of my journey, reflecting the value of thoughtful planning and the impact of a well-designed space on both guests and operators alike.
Spanning 6,000 square meters, this was an ambitious undertaking—one that not only shaped my professional growth but also led to an enduring relationship with the client, which has continued for over 18 years.
